London women are famous for hats, but after Camilla Parker Bowles created such a worldwide fashion statement with her gold-leafed feather headdress Saturday.
The Duchess of Cornwall's gold-ostriched feather hat was tipped with Swarovski Diamond crystal tips.
Samuel Castro, owner of Samuel's Hats in New York, has already received requests for the Swarovski feathered hat.
Castro didn't know the exact price, but guessed it would probably cost in the thousands. Samuel's Hats already carries a line of Treacy's hats.
If you can't get enough of the Royal Wedding, here are some of my favorite tidbits, in addition to the ostrich hat:
- The wedding cake was made by Dawn Blundone and Mary Robinson, who make cakes for the Highgrove Shop. The 24-inch cake was a single layered plain white, organic, rich fruitcake, with an octagon dome.
- The Prince of Wales' Naval Sword was used to cut the wedding cake. The sword originally belonged to the prince's great grandfather, King George V.
- Princes William and Harry both wore tie-pins given to them from Her Majesty The Queen that belonged to The Queen Mother.
- The wedding rings exchanged by Charles and Camilla are 22-karat gold and were hand made by Wartski, using Welsh gold from the Clogau St. David's mine and the river Mawdach in the Kings Forest. Prince Harry was responsible for the overseeing of the rings.
- Did anyone wonder why Joan Rivers was the only American celebrity to attend the event? Thank goodness she didn't ask Camilla "who are you wearing?" Rivers has become friends with the courtly couple after meeting Prince Charles on a painting expedition a few years ago in France. Rivers is an amateur painter. So it’s the love for painting that brought them close together.
